Clover Statement Fees: Trace the Charges

Clover statement fees do not always appear under a clear Clover heading. Your processor may use its own descriptions for software, devices and payment activity. Read a complete month alongside any separate equipment or app invoices to understand what was billed and which company collected it.

Short answer

How do I identify Clover statement fees?

Start with the statement period and billing company, then group charges by processing, software, equipment and account services. Match transaction activity to the fee detail and check outside invoices for leases or apps. Names vary by processor, so confirm unclear descriptions instead of assuming every unfamiliar line is a Clover charge.

Gather the records for a complete month

Choose a recent completed statement period. Keep every page, including fee detail and summary pages. Add the software invoice, device agreement, app receipts and lease bill if those arrive separately. Use records covering the same period where possible, and note billing dates that fall outside it.

Identify the processor named on the statement and the company collecting each separate payment. Your equipment seller and statement provider may not be the same business. Record those relationships before deciding whether a charge belongs to processing, software or hardware.

Mark the software and equipment lines

Look for a software plan or service fee and any per device fees. Descriptions vary by processor, so compare the label with your agreement or invoice. Check that the plan matches the service you intended to use and that billed devices match your active setup.

Lease payments may appear on the processing statement or as a separate debit. App subscriptions can also be billed on the statement or directly by the app provider. Track each charge to its billing source before calling it a duplicate.

Follow payment activity into processing charges

Find the sales and transaction summaries, then locate the corresponding fee detail. Identify per transaction or authorization charges separately from the discount rate or markup. Ask what activity each count includes if it does not match your completed sales.

Locate interchange and card network assessments where they are itemized. These passed through costs differ from the processor markup. If the statement bundles them together, request an explanation of the pricing structure rather than trying to infer the split from a vague label.

  • Check whether refunds and other adjustments explain differences between sales and deposits.
  • Identify batch fees and ask which settlement activity triggers them.
  • Keep chargeback fees separate from the disputed payment amount when reviewing deductions.

Review account charges and reconcile totals

Look for PCI compliance or non compliance fees, monthly statement fees and account fees. Match each to the agreement and ask about any new description. If there is an early termination charge, connect it to the cancellation documents rather than grouping it with ordinary monthly service.

Add the statement charges and separately billed services to your worksheet. Compare the statement total with the related account debits, allowing for different collection dates. A daily deduction and a monthly debit may follow different billing arrangements. Ask the processor to explain the timing before concluding something was collected twice.

Send enough detail for a useful review

For a free statement review, upload a recent complete statement through our contact page. Include fee pages, not just the deposit summary. If available, add related software, app or lease bills and the agreement that describes a charge you want checked.

Use a brief note to identify unfamiliar labels, changed charges or missing explanations. Tell us about devices no longer in use and any recent plan change. Follow the upload instructions for handling sensitive details. We are not a Clover partner; our referral business explains charges and helps you assess alternatives.

Common questions

Still not sure? Ask us directly.

Will every Clover charge say Clover?

Not necessarily. A processor can use a generic service description. Match the line to the agreement or ask the billing company what it covers.

Are app subscriptions always on the statement?

No. Some appear on separate invoices or account debits. Include those bills when building a complete monthly picture.

What if a fee description is unclear?

Copy the description exactly and note its billing period. Ask the processor to identify the service, calculation and contract provision behind it.

Should I send only the statement summary?

Send the full statement, including the detailed fee pages. A summary alone may omit the descriptions and activity needed to explain the charges.
